How to simply describe Dang Show? Even the name in Farsi evokes more than it crystalizes; mountainous vocals as well as velvety textures, jazz saxophone, medieval counterpoints, rock rhythms, lush, rich and brassy like the best Balkan bands. Dang Show could be defined as a fusion of Persian classical and jazz. It takes you to a world of wonder, romance and disorienting dreams.
The past can become hip. “Dang Show” has proved it. Performing for both young and old, they please the most traditional Iranian classical aficionados and those weened on the more alternative fare.... and get both crowds moving.
Before Dang Show Iranian bands fell into two categories: deep traditional Iranian music or an imitation of Western rock bands. In 2007 Dang Show invented a new concept for an Iranian lyric-based music band. After them many young talented Iranians artists of the next generation started to form bands with a new approach to music and Iranian bands. In 2018 Dang Show earned the prize for Best Fusion Album for “Mad O Nay” in the only annual audience voted music awards in Iran.
