Mahmood Schricker tours "El Muerte," his new album inspired by the Persian Dastgah System, laced with beats and electronics. Where the delicate timbre of Persian setar adds to Sufism's thoughtful sadness, the album precipitates life on the verge of death. "El Muerte" (death with the wrong article).
Nima Dehghani's visuals provide a backdrop for Schricker's set, mapping every pulse and sequence onto a screen. Each track's narrative is enhanced with complementary visuals; blinking lights, effects, or cinematic videos containing old footage, and live videography of the musician performing. Based on the overall concept, they contain traces of love and emotion, a combination of death, love and music. Each piece has its own unique design that compliments the common theme of "El Muerte."
